Darrelle Revis was beat for two touchdowns in Sunday’s loss to the Patriots, and afterwards Revis’ ex-teammate Tom Brady said he noticed the cornerback “winced” during the game.
“I know he’s not feeling great,” Brady said Monday on WEEI. “I could see out there, he winced out there a few times, kind of getting up. It looked like his leg was bothering him a little bit, but he was still very close on a lot of those plays. Even though you’re hitting them, he’s very competitive.”
Revis wasn’t on the injury report heading into the week but hinted he might have been a little banged up.
“We’ve all played through nicks and bangs in here,” Revis said. “Some things are not on the injury report, but at the same time, for me personally, it’s (not any different) in terms of being banged up late in the season. You’ve got to take care of your body and make sure you’re … at least 80-90%, come Sunday. You’ve got to fight your way through a long season. And that’s what you do with the nicks and bangs, you just fight through it.”
Revis is in the midst of a very rough year with the Jets, though Brady was still complimentary of the cornerback despite getting the best of him on Sunday.
Malcolm Mitchell beats Darrelle Revis on a second quarter touchdown.
“He’s been one of the great players in the league for a long time,” Brady said. “He’s given up some more plays this year than in the past, but you have to have a lot of respect for his style and his game.”
This very well may be Revis’ last year with the Jets. After the game the cornerback was asked if he wants to be back with Gang Green.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Revis said.
