One Cubs fan was apparently feeling pretty invincible after watching Chicago finally shake its World Series curse.
It nearly cost him dearly.
In a horrifying scene captured on cellphone video, Cubs fan Alan Anderson, 36, was knocked out cold by an Indians fan outside Progressive Field early Thursday morning.
Chris Vallimont, a 19-year-old Cleveland fan who took the video and posted it on Twitter, told TMZ Sports that Anderson got into a heated exchange with the unidentified Indians fan. Anderson even dared him to take a swing.
And take a swing he did.
The Indians fan – wearing a “Cleveland Against the World” t-shirt – delivered a one-punch knockout that sent Anderson to the hospital.
Anderson was transported to a local hospital in stable condition after “he probably didn’t move for about 12 minutes,” Vallimont told the gossip website.
“My head hurts,” Anderson told TMZ Thursday morning.
Despite suffering a cut to his mouth and a head injury, his sense of humor appears intact. “I survived an assault just like my Cubs survived being down 3-1.”
It’s that epic Cubs comeback that apparently got Anderson in trouble in the first place.
According to Vallimont’s account, Anderson taunted the Indians fan as both were leaving Progressive Field following the Cubs’ 8-7 win in 10 innings: “You guys just blew a 3-1 lead, f–k you.”
After the Indians fan challenged him to a fight, Anderson apparently said: “Hit me now, I dare you.”
His dare was accepted.
The Indians fan reportedly fled the scene and has yet to be ID’d. Cleveland cops are investigating the incident.
