Knicks, Rockets have display of unity, lock arms for anthem

HOUSTON – The Knicks talked about making a gesture of unity during the national anthem. So they included every player on both rosters.

Prior to the preseason opener Tuesday in Houston, every player stood side-by-side with arms around shoulders, alternating at different points between members of the Rockets and Knicks.

The stars of both teams — Carmelo Anthony and James Harden – were interlocked until the end of the anthem, with the line of 34 players extending from one bench to the other.

“Whatever we do, we want to do it as a group, as a team,” Anthony said last week. “We don’t want to just have it as one individual, because it’s really not going to have any substance behind it. I think if we do something, then it should be everybody in it together. One for all, all for one type of thing.”
