The quarterback issues continued for the Jets in Sunday’s first half against the Browns.
And Joe Namath didn’t miss the opportunity to get back on Twitter and provide another round of QB commentary.
“Who thinks we should see Bryce Petty start the 2nd half? I know I do,” he wrote. “It hurts to say this, but we’re not goin anywhere with Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick went 3-for-14 with 30 yards in the first half against a hapless Browns defense, and entered the visiting locker room trailing 20-7.
During last week’s win over the the Ravens, Namath criticized Geno Smith, who took started over a struggling Fitzpatrick, after Smith left the game with a knee injury.
“If you’ve got a right knee injury out of the game why are you standing on the sideline the entire 2nd half? How bad can it be?” Namath tweeted.
An MRI later revealed that Smith suffered a torn ACL, which has ended his season and likely his Jets tenure.
Smith tweeted at Namath that it wasn’t his decision not to return, but the doctors’, to which Namath replied, “My bad.”
Broadway Joe may have to issue an apology to a second Jets QB, as Fitzpatrick has led the team to 21 unanswered points in the second half, going 9-for-17 with 168 yards and a touchdown through the middle of the fourth quarter.
