Joe McKnight’s shocking road rage shooting death in Terrytown, La., on Thursday afternoon led to a swift outpouring of love from former Jets and Southern Cal teammates and other players around the NFL.
He was just 28.

“Just got a message saying my former teammate Joe McKnight was killed today,” former Jet Antonio Cromartie wrote on Twitter. “This hurt to the heart. I can’t stop crying. #RestInPeace”
McKnight, the former USC star, was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft. He spent four seasons in the NFL, the first three with the Jets as a running back and kick returner.
