Flores will have surgery for hamate bone injury in wrist: Mets GM

Wilmer Flores’ is suffering from a hamate bone injury and will have surgery to have it removed, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Wednesday.

The Mets infielder has been out since Sept. 10, after he injured his wrist during a collision at home plate in Atlanta.

At first, the Mets, who are facing the San Francisco Giants in the NL wild-card game on Wednesday night, thought that Flores had a bone bruise.
