Duda, Smoker left off Mets roster for Wild Card game

Lucas Duda did not make the Mets 25-man Wild Card roster

The first baseman, who missed 107 games with fracture in his lower back, was battling for a spot the last two weeks but was left off in favor of the switch-hitting Ty Kelly and right-handed hitting infielder Eric Campbell.

Eight pitchers will be in the bullpen, including Robert Gsellman and Bartolo Colon. Most surprising in the pen was the decision to carry lefty Josh Edgin over Josh Smoker.

Starter Seth Lugo was held back for a possible NLDS start.

The Mets are also carrying three catchers, allowing Travis d’Arnaud to be a right-handed pinch hitter off the bench if needed.

The Mets decided to start James Loney, who filled in for Duda most of the season.
