Denard Span blown call on stolen base sends Twitter into rage

Twitter is not happy with the umpires in the NL wild card game.

In a controversial call in the top of the fourth inning, Denard Span tried to steal second base. He was called out.

Replays appeared to show Span was safe, but even after going to the replay, the umpires upheld the origianl out call.

Some argued that Span came off the base – though there was not conclusive evidence of that on the replay – and it appeared Jose Reyes employed a slap tag instead of holding it on Span.

Cody Decker, a minor leaguer with the Red Sox tweeted “Replay is great cause now there wont be missed calls in playoffs! Wait, they reviewed it and still called Span out?! Never mind.

Jalynne Crawford, the wife of Giants’ Brandon Crawford asked “How do you mess that up twice?”

Twins closer Glen Perkins also chimed in: “Why even have replay?
