Lucroy homers, drives in 3 to lift Rangers

This six-game road trip will serve as a strong test for Rangers, as they match up against the team with the best record in each respective league, in the Nationals and Astros. They passed the first game of that test on Friday night as they hammered 13 hits — including a two-run homer from Jonathan Lucroy and solo homer from Rougned Odor — en route to a 5-2 victory in front of a sold-out crowd of 38,332 at Nationals Park.

Stanton has (batter’s) eye on the prize at PNC

Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton tested the deepest part of PNC Park, and made it appear small. Add another thunderous clout to the three-time All-Star’s long list of must-see shots. Leading off the third inning against Pittsburgh right-hander Tyler Glasnow, Stanton crushed a changeup over the batter’s eye in straight away center. It bounced off the top of the tall green structure.
